The lunar seventh month might be over, but clearly some of us are moving on faster than others.
Those among us who haven’t moved on, fret not, no judgement here. We’re merely here to give you a suggestion.
If you’re yearning to tinker with the supernormal, perhaps eliminate “Go to Haw Par Villa and caress the statues” as one of your options.
Woman touching and stepping on the Haw Par Villa dioramas
A woman who recently visited Haw Par Villa was thrusted into the limelight – and its not without good reason.
The woman was caught for touching and stepping on the notorious dioramas at Haw Par Villa, Singapore’s unofficial horror amusement park.
Yes, the very same statues your parents used to make you stand in front of to scare you into sleeping at 9pm and doing your mathematics homework, this woman shows some sort of endearment for.
Thanks to the wonders of social media, we got to have a glimpse of what went down during her visit to Haw Par Villa on 10 October.
Her antics were posted in a series of videos on TikTok, with one video even garnering up to 19,000 views.
While the rest of us get cold feet just posing with the spine-chilling statues and dioramas, the woman was not only seen stepping on the dioramas, she even caressed the statues.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, here’s a picture showing another one of her antics:
For the touch-starved among us, here’s another word of advice: don’t take her as your model and go around touching the hands of statues. Perhaps just continue trying your luck on dating apps…
The daredevil also climbed up on several dioramas to pose for pictures.
We all know the importance of doing good deeds. Well, we’re not sure if it redeems her, but she did try to help this particular statue pick its nose…
The internet’s take
In response to the videos, netizens had much to say.
Well, maybe “much” is an understatement.
While some just couldn’t wrap their heads around her actions, others felt more strongly.

Many criticised the woman’s actions as being disrespectful to the dioramas and the statues, which have been painstakingly maintained by the park for decades.
Some also remarked that her actions amounted to damaging public property, and that she could be punished for it.
Several netizens also commented on the woman’s nationality and implied some sort of inherent link between the woman’s nationality and her displeasing behaviour.
The park’s take
The park addressed the debacle in a Facebook post on 10 October.
The park said that thus far, visitors have mostly remained well-behaved. There have only been a few incidents with visitors displaying deplorable behaviour such as that of the woman’s.
While the park condemned the woman for being irresponsible, it also remarked that comments made by netizens about the woman’s nationality were inappropriate and unnecessary.
“As Singaporeans, we welcome all nationalities and communities to visit Haw Par Villa and we strive to create a common space for all to enjoy the beautiful works of art on display.”
