Haze is Here, But The Good News is That More People Responsible for The Haze Are Arrested

You won’t miss it even when you close your eyes this morning: the haze is back.

The 3-hour PSI, as of 4:00 p.m. today (26 August 2016), is at 157, which is in the unhealthy range. According to NEA, this will persist for the entire day, so Pokémon GO players might want to take a rest today.

And while Singaporeans curse and swear, at least there’s a good news reported earlier this morning by The Straits Times: as of today, even before the peak of the haze season which usually occurs around September, 454 people who have allegedly contributed to the haze have been arrested.

Last year, only 196 people connected to the haze have been arrested.

The haze today is contributed by “westerly winds over Singapore”—in which a change in wind direction led the smoke over.

Last year, the PSI reached a peak of 471 in the west of Singapore at night. It also caused several outdoor events to be cancelled.

With the authorities working to stop the root of the haze, let’s hope we won’t have a repeat of what happened last year.

Oh, Gov.sg has also produced a video to educate us what to do during the haze.
