The Covid-19 pandemic hasn’t just made it easier to avoid exercise or binge-watch shows on Netlix, it’s also caused financial uncertainty for many families.

Many people have lost their jobs or have had to take pay cuts due to the economic effects of the coronavirus outbreak.

Fortunately for us, the gahmen launched several programmes last year to help workers and businesses survive this uncertain period.

Even though a year has passed since the pandemic and our mass vaccination drive has already begun, the gahmen is still coming up with initiatives to cushion the pandemic’s financial blow.

950K HDB Households to receive $135m in S&CC rebates from Apr 2021 – Mar 2022

That’s right, around 950,000 Singaporean HDB households will receive $135 million in service and conservancy charge (S&CC) rebates from next month to March 2022.

According to The Straits Timesthis includes vouchers that can be used to defray expenses and support local businesses.

S&CC rebates and goods and services tax vouchers are also part of the scheme.

Depending on their flat type, eligible Singaporean households will receive between 1.5 to 3.5 months of rebates.

They will be notified through letters by 1 April 2021, and receive their quarterly S&CC Rebate automatically in:

  1. April 2021
  2. July 2021
  3. October 2021
  4. January 2022

Households need not take any action to get this rebate, as they will be credited directly into households’ S&CC accounts managed by their respective town councils.

Not sure if you’re eligible? You can check your eligibility online by logging in to the My HDBPage here with your Singpass.

Residents with specific queries on their household’s S&CC payment or account status can contact their respective town councils.

Part of the Household Support Package

These rebates are part of the $900 million Household Support Package that was announced in this year’s budget, to provide additional support to families during the pandemic.

The package aims to help families, especially lower-to middle-income families, with household expenses.

In a Facebook post today (26 March), Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat shared more details of the Household Support Package.
