Sure, your chalet might not feel super new and glamorous. But threatening the staff, just because of a $50 fee for a door you broke? Not cool.
Heritage Chalet at Pasir Ris has clapped back at a guest who complained about them on TikTok, claiming that they were threatened. Here’s what happened.
$300 Per Night for Stained Walls?
In a TikTok video posted by user Keegennn on 24 September, the rooms at Heritage Chalet, located at 125a Pasir Ris Road, had cracked and mouldy walls, together with ceiling stains and stained furniture.
Definitely not what you’d expect for $300 per night.
Additionally, he said that the chalet staff said they cleaned the room before the guests checked in, expressing his disbelief since the place was so “run-down”.
@keegennnStill asked the if they cleaned the room before hand and the lady said “Yep” and another staff said “This morning we just cleaned”
He also commented that the management was “horrible” and that he and his friends were made to pay for a door they apparently didn’t break.
It seems like his criticisms of the place weren’t completely unwarranted, since a review posted on Google a while ago also complained about similar issues.
However, Heritage Chalet begs to differ.
No Promise of Luxury
In a statement, the director of Heritage Chalet Lily Kong said that Keegennn booked a fully air-conditioned double chalet. It can accommodate up to 10 people, with four bedrooms, a living room, and a dining room.
This means that his $300 per night claim actually translates to only $30 per night per pax, which is far more reasonable than the impression his claim gave.
“We do not promise luxury,” she stated, saying that Heritage Chalet merely provides a “no-frills accommodation for holidaymakers near the beach”.
Cleaned Thoroughly Before Check-In
The rooms are cleaned thoroughly before guests check in at 3pm. This includes sweeping and mopping floors, emptying garbage, and changing bed linen.
However, since the chalet was last painted three years ago, the “challenging elements of sun, rain and salty sea water” have caused mould to grow. The chalet will be repainted soon according to schedule.

Door Broken by Guests, Chalet Refuses to Be Bullied
The chalet also addressed the issue of the door, saying that it was actually broken by the guests. The management requested them to pay $50 for repair costs, to which the guests were unhappy and threatened to post about them on social media.
However, the chalet staff refuse to be bullied by guests, and did not give in. “We are abhorred that guests use the media to get their way,” Ms Kong added.
