Hifumi is one of the most affordable buffet places in Singapore.
Located at Marina Square, you can get a main dish (usually below $20) at this Japanese restaurant and be treated to a free-flow “appetizer buffet” along with your meal.
Now, before you say, chey, take a look at what their appetizer buffet looks like:
We’re talking gyoza, seafood, stew and more.
But do you know what’s the best part? They change their appetizer buffet menu on a monthly basis.
And sometimes, you’ll even get seasonal products based on the seasons in Japan.
Unfortunately, It’s All Gone
On 1 July 2020, the official Hifumi Facebook Page uploaded this post:
And the saddest part is, you can’t even chiong to have your last hurrah because they’ve been closed since Circuit Breaker started.
Hifumi’s parent company, Create Restaurants Asia Pte Ltd, has other brands in its portfolio, including another brand that’s quite familiar to Singaporeans:
And just like Hifumi, Shabu Sai’s prices are actually pretty affordable too:
We’re talking free-flow shabu-shabu meat, vegetables and more.
Don’t say we bojio hor.
Many F&B Businesses Closed Down Due To Covid-19
Previously, there was a widely-shared image showing the names of 40 eateries that have allegedly closed down due to Covid-19.
After a check, it was determined that not all were closed, but it’s close enough.
Back in Jun 2020, Lianhe Zaobao reported that as many as 529 eateries have closed down between February and April 2020.
While it sounds scary, the president of the Restaurant Association of Singapore, Vincent Tan Chor Khoon, said that the worst is yet to come.
He mentioned that in 2019, 560 restaurants closed down within the same time period.
This means, he said, Covid-19 has yet to trigger a wave of closures.
As businesses gradually reopen, he fully expects to see a wave of closures.
