Just when you thought Ho Ching’s never-ending portfolio of achievements could not get any more accomplished, it did. And which firm took the “w” of having her as a board member? EQT.
EQT’s Impact-driven Fund
On 27 January, global investment organisation EQT announced on its website that Ho would be joining the board as an advisor.
The former CEO of Temasek is one of three “high-caliber business executives with strong impact expertise” who will be joining the mission board of EQT Future, the firm’s impact-driven fund that was established October 2021.
According to its website, EQT states that the purpose of the mission board is “to provide external objectivity to the fund’s strategic direction and set the bar high for its commitment to drive positive impact”.
Over the past three decades, EQT, a Sweden-based firm, has established itself as a purpose-driven global investment organisation. It currently boasts €73.4 billion (S$111 billion) in assets under management across 28 active funds.
Ho Ching’s Achievements
Just in case you are unacquainted with Ho’s previous accomplishments or only know her as the Prime Minister’s spouse, we are here to amaze you with what she has done.
Ho, the former CEO of Temasek, was highly regarded for having transformed Temasek from a Singapore-focused firm into a leading global investment organization. In 2007, TIME Magazine named Ho as one of the “100 most influential men and women who shaped the world”.
In the same year, Forbes also ranked her third on its annual list of the world’s most powerful women. Both an influential and altruistic leader, Ho is the designated Chairperson of Temasek Trust and she supports numerous community service and charitable organizations within education, healthcare and the welfare and development of children.
New Board Members
Joining Ho on the mission board are other equally high-profile individuals – Naina Lal Kidwai, Svein Tore Holsether and Hedda Pahlson-Moller.
Naina is the former Country Head of HSBC India, Executive Director on the board of HSBC Asia Pacific, and Head of Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley India. She was the first Indian woman to graduate from Harvard Business School and today she serves as a Global Advisor to the university.
In 2015, she founded the NGO India Sanitation Coalition, which focuses on behavioral change to promote clean habits, starting with educating school children about safe sanitation and hygiene practices.
