I’m pretty sure most of us has gone through this before:

In the last round of mask distribution, you chose a mask that felt too small for your face.

So this time, you’re going for XL just to be safe.

Well, Ho Ching is here to tell you that it’s not a wise choice.

It’s not the bigger, the better.

Ho Ching Shared Tips on How to Pick Correct New Mask Size So It Won’t Look Like a Man’s Underwear

Early at 1:00 am on 10 Mar, Ho Ching took to her Facebook account to advise people on “size matters”.

According to her, many folks chose the wrong size the previous round went big for this one.

Then, they realised it was too big and wanted to exchange it for a smaller size.

Unfortunately, that’s not doable as masks are non-exchangeable for hygiene purposes.

So she’s now doing the next best thing: teaching people how to choose the correct size if they’ve not collected the masks yet.

To start with, she highlighted the conversions for the various mask sizes:

S = 99mm or smaller

M – 100 to 115mm

L = 116 to 125mm

XL = 126mm or bigger

To recap, you have to measure the distance from your eye level to your chin.

Some Pro Tips

To make sure that you collect the right size for yourself, Ho Ching suggested a few pro tips that are useful for families.

For one, you can collect one mask for the entire family to try before collecting for the rest of the household.

You can also make a newspaper cutout to measure the length more accurately.

If you want some expert help (or just someone to blame if things go wrong), you can also head to the community centres where ambassadors are deployed to ensure that you have the right fit.

The mask distribution will end on 14 Mar 2021 at midnight.

That’s three days away, so if you haven’t had time to collect your masks yet, better make plans to do it soon.

She added that the elastic part goes under the chin for better sealability, while the metal wire bends around the nose bridge.

By the way, if you’re wondering about the headline, here’s what an oversized mask looks like:

Exactly like a man’s underwear.
