It’s generally understood that if you have a positive ART test, you stay put at home.
But what if you don’t have a home to return to?
That was what happened to this homeless woman at Toa Payoh.
Homeless Woman in Toa Payoh Tested Positive For COVID-19
According to Shin Min News Daily (SMND), a 60-year-old homeless woman at Toa Payoh tested positive twice for the Antigen Rapid Test (ART).
She was a familiar face around the Toa Payoh Lorong 8 hawker centre, which is now a COVID-19 cluster with over 30 cases.
As she doesn’t work within the centre, she wasn’t scheduled to test for COVID-19.
It was a kind resident who reportedly passed her an ART test kit, which turned out to be positive.
The kindly resident then brought her to a nearby clinic to confirm the result.
At the clinic, she underwent another ART, which turned out to be positive as well.
Clinic staff reportedly told her to return home and self-isolate while waiting for her PCR test results.
Returned To Waste Collection Point Beside The Hawker Centre
The woman was reportedly estranged from her husband and hasn’t returned home for years.
Instead, she has been sleeping at the hawker centre and using the toilet there for baths.
Upon receiving the order to self-isolate, the elderly lady reportedly returned to the hawker centre and sat beside the rubbish collection point.
Fully Vaccinated & Willing To Cooperate
The good news is: the lady is no longer left to her own devices.
In the end, residents reportedly made a police report and two police officers arrived at noon to speak to the lady.
A private ambulance was seen arriving at the location at around 2:30pm and ferrying her off to an isolation facility a few minutes later.
She reportedly told the Chinese newspaper reporter that she is fully vaccinated and is feeling well. She has not, however, taken the booster shot.
It was added that she isn’t against residing in the isolation facility and will comply fully with the authorities.
