Acting is not a career of longevity. Often, actors choose to act only during their prime years and retire quickly to a life of luxury, barely hitting the 10-year career mark.

However, that doesn’t seem like the case for famous Singaporean Actress Hong Hui Fang. In her 39th year of acting, she’s still going strong and shows no signs of slowing down.

Recently, she announced her transfer to a Taiwanese agency via Instagram, in order to search for more opportunities.

Here’s what you need to know.

Her Thoughts On The Transfer

On 21 February, Ms Hong announced on Instagram that she had been involved in the collaboration between Mediacorp TCA and Catwalk Taiwan (Kaiwo Group).

In her message, written in Chinese, she wrote about expanding to overseas markets, where she would hopefully be able to further her already illustrious 39-year acting career.

She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and her excitement for her new prospects with the new agency.

In a press statement, Hong said that she “was thrilled to embark on this new chapter” in her career, and that the partnership presented her with “an incredible opportunity as an actress”.

Her agency, Catwalk, also has local celebrities Christoper Lee, Fann Wong, and Dawn Yeo signed with it.

For Our Confused Readers—Who is Hong Hui Fang?

Our more mature audiences may be acquainted with Ms Hong’s earlier works as an icon in the Singaporean movie industry, where she starred in roles such as Samsui Women, Housewives Holiday, and The Price of Peace, for which she won her first acting award (of many) in.

Starring in the recent hit Ajoomma, she has attained awards such as The Best Actress award at the 8th Asian World Film Festival and three others in past works, namely The Price of Peace and The Shining Star.

Her acting career began in 1984, and since then, she has appeared in 112 different shows, sang in 6 compilation albums, and starred in 2 iconic films.

It’s no exaggeration to say that her career so far has been pretty much prolific.

Purpose of Collaboration

She has recently revealed that her future role as a judge in The 2023 RisingStories International Story Pitching Competition had allowed her to obtain this opportunity, since the program was led by Kaiwo as well. Because of the show, Mediacorp TCA and Kaiwo had the opportunity to discuss collaboration details.

Due to her lead role in the recent big hit Ajoomma, she was nominated for Best Leading Actress at last year’s Taiwanese Golden Horse Awards. So, it only made sense for Ms Hong to expand her talents and career overseas, towards Taiwan.
