It only takes a second for a celebrity to lose their gleam in the eyes of the public.

On Saturday (25 Sep), local actress Chantalle Ng revealed in a talkshow interview that her celebrity father, Huang Yiliang, had hit her as a child, once beating her so badly that she had to be hospitalised for a week.

She was in Primary 5 at the time after her parents had received some negative feedback from her tutor.

After the matter was reported to the police, the case was taken to court.

Yesterday, in his first Facebook livestream ever, the former actor responded to his daughter’s allegations.

Huang Yiliang Responded to Chantalle Ng’s Allegations in a FB Livestream

In the 30-minute livestream, Huang said it was “heartbreaking” to hear Ng’s claims, adding that she should not have said what she said on the talk show.

The 60-year-old explained that he and his ex-wife, actress Lin Meijiao, agreed that he would be the “bad cop” when it came to disciplining Ng when she was a child.

Detailing the event that led up to the incident, Huang said that Ng was easily distracted as a teenager, adding that her tuition centre teacher said she was “very naughty”.

Wanting to protect her, Huang never revealed this to Ng or the public, but could no longer keep schtum after the allegations were levelled at him by Ng.

He said that when he spoke in court, he asked for his daughter to be removed so his testimony wouldn’t affect her.

What Happened

Ng opened up about her strained relationship with her father in a recent episode on Quan Yi Fong’s talk show Hear U Out.

She said her parents had split up before she turned one, and that she would visit her father every Sunday when she was in primary school.

Unlike her mother, whom she said didn’t believe in physical punishment, Huang had a volatile temper and was prone to violence.

It got to a point where she would become anxious the day before she saw him.

When she was in Primary 5, her father hired a tutor to prepare her for the upcoming Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE).

The tutor later gave Ng some negative feedback over Ng’s academic performance, which angered Huang.

He showed up at her house, and that’s when the beating apparently took place.

When Ng’s mother tried to intervene, Huang allegedly threatened to hit her as well, but Ng then shouted at him not to do so.

The matter escalated to a police case, but Lin eventually dropped the charges. She knew her daughter was extremely fearful of seeing Huang and did not want to make her testify in court.

“After that incident, I had no further contact with my father,” Ng said.

Allocated 30% of Assets to Ng; Allegations Haven’t Changed the Arrangement

In his Facebook livestream, Huang disclosed that he had allocated 30% of his assets to Ng in his will. 20% will go to his ex-wife Lin.

Despite what Ng said in public, Huang said he will not change the arrangement made in his will.

The 60-year-old lamented the fact that her allegations could affect the sentencing for an ongoing court case.

Earlier this year, Huang was sentenced to 10 months’ jail for attacking a Bangladeshi worker with a metal scraper.

However, he claims he is not as bad as the media makes him out to be.
