We have all been through a bad break up at least once in our lives, right? Sometimes it’s amicable.
But sometimes, it’s just messy and makes you wonder what got the both of you together in the first place.
Well, as far as messy breakups go, this is one couple you should never emulate.
It includes a Personal Protection Order and blackmail, so you know it is going to be good.
The Relationship
The couple in question has actually gotten married twice, according to Today.
They divorced once in 1991 before they reconciled and got back together in 2017.
They were living together since their reconciliation until February 2019 when they decided to split again and go separate ways.
What Went Wrong
The man showed symptoms of mental instability during the relationship and accused the woman of infidelity for up to ten times. The woman then filed police reports against him and he was arrested. He was released on bail but reoffended in January this year.
After they started living apart in the midst of the divorce, the man repeatedly harassed her via voice message, social media and e-mails.
He did not show signs of relenting and sent her a link to their sexually explicit photographs and videos twice a day.
On one occasion, he sent an e-mail to her with the subject title, “I will drag you to hell with me”, revealing his desire to ruin her.
And it gets worse. Much worse.
He pestered her to return to him her wedding ring and gold bracelet on multiple occasions.
If she did not comply, he threatened, he’ll send her explicit video directly to her employers and defame her.
The man also posted defamatory remarks and comments on his social media pages such as Facebook.
Not All Innocent
Aside from being a nuisance to her ex-partner, he took it to himself to harass and disturb his neighbours multiple times.
He took a 28 cm long parang and swung it at his neighbour’s doorstep while they were home.
He had even used it to strike their metal gate.
The neighbour, in hopes of making peace, came out to resolve the issue. However, the man got even more tiled up and threw a stone at his car’s windscreen.
He was arrested, but this is not where this ends.
About three weeks later, he went back to the neighbour’s home and yelled curses and expletives about the neighbour’s company.
He got the company details from the van that was parked outside of the neighbour’s home.
He also removed the license plate of said van and proceeded to bend it. The act was fortunately caught on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage.
So Is He Mentally Unsound?
Yes, but not exactly.
The Institute of Mental Health diagnosed him with Substance-Induced Psychosis but he was of sound and clear mind. Essentially, he is a sane man under the influence of substances.
This Monday, the man pleaded guilty to four charges of unlawful stalking, criminal intimidation, possessing an offensive weapon and committing mischief.
