Just as not all men (and women) are created equal, the Covid-19 pandemic has proven that not all celebrities are as affected by the outbreak.
Previously, Romeo Tan showed off his new home on Instagram and let me tell you, it was a sight to behold.
Even better than property viewing videos, as someone in the office said.
And now, another celebrity has joined the list.
Ian Fang.
One of the 8 Dukes of Caldecott, Ian Fang is a Chinese-born actor, rapper and director (according to his IG) based in Singapore.
He has taken part in various Mediacorp productions such as Happy Prince (Romeo Tan’s the lead in this series), True Lies (Toggle original series) and more.
Earlier in 2019, he shot into infamy for his scandalous chat messages with Carrie Wong, an incident in which much drama ensued.
Now more than a year later, he hit the internet headlines again. Thankfully, this time, for a good reason.
Ian Fang is the Next MediaCorp Celebrity to Buy a Condo & Showing it on Instagram
On 19 Oct 2020, Fang took to his Instagram Stories to post a photo of his new home and the design with the words “It’s my turn baaaabbbyyy“.
According to 8Days, Fang had splurged on a S$1 million freehold condo towards the Bendemeer area.
Chop-Chop
How long do you figure you’ll need to consider a purchase that breaches the six-zeroes realm?
For most of us, we’ve never really thought of it since, well, it’s a million dollars. But if you do have the chance to consider it? It’ll probably take a long time.
For Fang, though, all it took was a month.
He didn’t have many viewings and had a capable agent.
All he needed to do was to tell the agent what he wanted, and within the same month, snapped the unit up in July 2020 after hearing about the location.
It was in the area where he grew up and situated between the schools he went to.
To Payback To Mom
The unit has two bedrooms and he’s going to be staying there with his mother.
Fang could remember how tough his mom had it when she first brought him over to Singapore.
They had rented a room during their initial years here (sometimes not even able to afford the rent), and she worked extremely hard to bring him up to the fine young man he is today.
Now, he wants her to rest and enjoy the fruits of her labour.
His mother was happy at how her son turned out and reportedly cried when she heard about his new purchase.
He’s also in the process of persuading her not to contribute to the new home, and let him “take care of it” instead.
Renovations on the home are estimated to cost between S$30-40,000 and are expected to be completed in Nov 2020.
Not The Only Celebrity To Upgrade/Buy Homes
Yes, we focused on Romeo Tan and Ian Fang, but between these two, there are a few other well-known figures in Singapore who went ahead to upgrade their pads.
There’s Hong Ling, a 26-year-old Mediacorp celebrity who bought a condo in central Singapore.
As well as power couple, Joanna Peh and Qi Yuwu who’s doing a massive renovation to their landed property in the east.
One thing for sure, though, we’re pretty sure Ian Fang won’t be the last to purchase a home during this period. Agree?
