Yet another article on the Carrie-Ian saga?
Yes, unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on whether you’re into local drama.
Of course, by drama, I don’t mean the Mediacorp Channel 8 drama. I meant the scandal that shook the nation’s gossip magazines a while back.
Since the scandal, the parties involved have been relatively low-profile to prevent stirring any more trouble.
But recently, Rebecca Lim, the rumoured girlfriend of Ian Fang had opened up.
This time, it’s finally Ian Fang’s turn in an interview by 8Days.
Ian & Rebecca Are Still “Best Friends”
As he probably predicted, he was interviewed heavily on the scandal.
But of course, 8Days still conducted the interview professionally by easing into the topic.
Ian stated that while he tries to avoid reading news reports and nasty comments on the scandal, he still “inadvertently” sees them.
When asked if Rebecca Lim and him are still friends, he replied, “What do you mean by that? Of course, we are still friends. Best friends!” with a look of a surprise.
Best friends? Or boyfriend/girlfriend?
Okay, just kidding. But it’s nice to ship a couple once in a while.
The interviewer also asked about Rebecca’s reaction to the scandal, to which Ian replied “As a friend, no matter what you’ve done, they’ll always help you. Only at your deepest, darkest period, will you know who your true friend is. That’s all.”
I’m guessing Rebecca has truly been a good friend to him. And perhaps I feel a bit of possible subtle jab at ‘friends’ who may have ditched him in the midst of the scandal saga.
Ian Doesn’t Know If He’s Still Friends With Carrie
Okay, here’s the big one.
The one you probably clicked on this article for in the first place.
First up, Ian revealed that he is no longer in contact with Carrie Wong.
The interviewer then followed up with, “Are you guys still friends?”
Ian replied: “I don’t know. We are all colleagues. I wish her well and all the best.”
Such a scandal must truly hit hard and crack even the strongest of friendships.
Here’s to hoping that everything will work out for them.
Post-Incident
After the gossip-worthy questions, the interview followed up with more questions that feel like a part of an AAR (After-Action Review).
While Ian avoided the question on “What lessons have you learnt from this incident?”, he also could not update on the investigation into the leak as it is a police matter.
He also said that he’d be more cautious on Instagram from now on, but still continue to update with pictures for his work and fans.
Ian states that he wishes to move on from the incident by focusing on his work, and he thanks the people who have supported him.
He then ended off with: “I just want to do my work properly. I’ll let my work do the talking.”
Well said, Ian.
