PM Lee’s Son Created Website With All Ice-Cream Places in Spore; Invites People to Send Reviews

After a meal, we can sometimes crave something sweet to end the day off, even if we’ve just eaten a huge meal. After all, as the saying goes, there’s always room for dessert.

But sometimes, it can be tough to figure out where to go for dessert because there are just too many places to try.

One man has decided to solve all of our problems regarding our sweet tooth by collating all the ice cream places in Singapore on one website called icecreammap.sg and categorising them according to his own personal tier rankings.

And he is none other than PM Lee’s son, Li Hongyi, who is currently the Director of Open Government Products at Singapore’s Government Technology Agency (GovTech).

PM Lee’s Son Created Website With All Ice-Cream Places in Spore

Li revealed the website via a Facebook post on 23 October and explained that this was a “fun side project” that he had been working on for the last few months.

He hoped that the map he created would help other ice-cream lovers out on their journey to find good ice cream around Singapore.

The list consists of more than 100 ice-cream places, and to make things easier for his users, the list is categorised into four different tiers – “Crème De La Crème – Something extraordinary” with a yellow icon, “Double Cream – Solid all around” with an orange icon, “Sweet Cream – Good for everyday” with a pink icon, and “Crème Fraîche – Not tradition ice cream but noteworthy” with a purple icon.

A click on each ice cream shop entry within the four categories will reveal photos, its exact location, opening hours, his review of the shop, his recommendations on what to get, the Google rating for the shop, as well as other reviews notable media sites have published. You can even get directions to the location as there is a link to Google Maps.

If you have visited the site, you would have also noticed that there is a list of ice cream shops with a small blue icon. These are the other ice cream places in Singapore that are not assigned a category.

A click on these entries would reveal their exact location, opening hours, and Google Rating.

This tier comprises the ice cream places that Li believes are the best of all. This tier includes Monarchs & Milkweed, both outlets of Birds of Paradise at East Coast Road and Jewel Changi Airport, and Celine’s Gelato Cart.

Double Cream – Solid all around

This tier includes places like Burnt Cones at Clementi, and MADLYGOOD at JCube. It also covers both Apiary outlets at Neil Road and Ang Mo Kio.

Sweet Cream – Good for Everyday

As the name of this tier suggests, the places written under this tier are good for everyday. Some of the ice cream shops include all three outlets of Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream and Coffee, as well as FATCAT Ice Cream Bar and NOM Gelato.

Crème Fraîche – Not tradition ice cream but noteworthy

The last tier talks about all the ice cream shops that serve unconventional flavours or types of ice cream. Some examples are five outlets of Chocolate Origin and three outlets of Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory

Invites People to Send Reviews

If you’re an ice cream lover yourself, you can send in your review to Li so that he can include it on his site to help others find the best ice cream for their tummies.

He also humbly mentioned that the list is “far from comprehensive”, and invited everyone to give him feedback if he missed out on any good places. If you’re interested to do so, you can send in your comments to [email protected].
