Your name is important. It’s your identity and determines how you’ll live your life. That’s if you bother to listen to your dad and his reasoning behind your name.

And it’s more than just your identity. It also determines your childhood. If you have a weird name, your classmates are going to laugh at you. Confirm.

I mean, my Chinese name is Wen Han and people have called me smelling-sweat, sweaty kid and all sorts of hilarious (to them) names during my childhood.

Well, I thought I’ve had it hard until I came across this piece of news.

Somebody actually named their daughter Asian Games.

I kid you not. Asian. Games.

The Asian Games (Not The Girl)

This year, the Asian Games is held in Indonesia. Co-held between two cities, Jakarta and Palembang, to be exact.

The Asian Games is a massive undertaking, with 462 events in 40 different sports. New sports were added like 3-on-3 basketball and BMX freestyle.

And those aren’t the only additions to the Asian Games.

For this year, eSports (read: competitive gaming) and canoe polo will be fielded as a demonstration sport.

Abidah Asian Games

The opening ceremony took place on 18 Aug (Saturday) at Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

A few hours before the opening ceremony, a baby girl was born in Palembang.

The girl’s father told reporters that his wife was due to give birth in September. But in a pleasant turn of events, the baby girl decided to surprise her parents with an early arrival.

Then, the parents decided to name the baby girl, Asian Games. Full name, Abidah Asian Games.

The father, Mr Yordania Denny, said he hoped the name will benefit her in the future. He also hoped that she’ll be an athlete in the future and compete in the Games.

And since we’re on the topic of Asian Games.
