Just last week, one of my colleagues wrote an article about how 1 in 5 smartphones in Singapore is from China.
Yes, shocking right.
After reading that I was shocked too.

So I assumed that I wouldn’t need to queue overnight for the launch of iPhone X on Nov 3.
But guess I am wrong.
According to Channel NewsAsia, the demand for iPhone X is still healthy, despite the price.
Let’s see what the major telcos have to say about this claim.
M1
M1 told Channel NewsAsia that the response has been very good during its registration of interest and about 20% were able to pre-order the smartphone. To add on, there are customers who did not submit or missed the registration of interest phase but they are very much interested to get the iPhone X.
Starhub
Their response was short and sweet—“the iPhone continues to be one of the more popular choices among our customers,” Channel NewsAsia reported.
Singtel
No response. Maybe they are busy monitoring their servers.
Circles.Life
The new player on the block told Channel NewsAsia that they only have a registration of interest option at the moment and it is “seeing a dramatic increase in interest” compared to other phone brands.

Don’t believe the telcos? Well, check out what we found.
People are willing to pay you $75 to queue for the phone on 3 November 2017 for three hours. That’s a profit of $25 per hour…just for queuing. Or sleeping. Or reading countless Goody Feed articles.
I guess Singaporeans have no qualm forking out $1,648 for a smartphone (and even more) and the rumour of Apple compromising its production value to meet demands isn’t going to faze them either.
After all, it is not an ordinary phone, it is an iPhone.
So I assume it is going to be a bloodbath outside the Apple Flagship store this Friday.
