Girls, Ladies, and Women of the 21st century. How many times have you been belittled by your male classmates or colleagues?

You know, things like:

“You sure you can?”

Or

“You girl nvm lah, just let the guys do.”

According to Glassdoor, despite being one of the world’s best nation for gender equality, women in Singapore are still being paid 13% lesser than men.

Jack Ma has had some pretty interesting things to say about gender equality and women empowerment during his speech at the Global Conference on Women and Entrepreneurs 2019.

Bless Jack Ma

During his speech, he doubled down on his stance on women.

He believed that more companies should hire women if they want their business to succeed.

It was added that women possess a unique “girl power” that can make the world a better place.

He also mentioned that he was deeply humbled because he can provide women leaders with a sharing platform.

Wah, power lah Jack Ma.

Males vs Females

Jack Ma realised that unlike women, men are unable to adapt. He said that women are born to adapt to changes and are good at creating changes in the world.

In addition, he feels that females are more inclusive when compared to males. He said that it’s because males of this generation are more jealous as they lack confidence and are more jealous.

When it comes to business, for example when creating new beauty products, women would focus more on the user experience while males would focus on themselves and what they would want to see in the product.

Males would also focus more on the figures rather than the experience.

As for the division of household chores, it’s clear that the women win. Based on the statistics on Tabao, 50% and 60% of the purchases of menswear and household items are done by females respectively.

He said that this was because females take care of others before they take care of themselves.

“The world would be a better place if we’re all like women.”

Well said. I am deeply humbled.

At the end of the day…

Don’t get this article wrong. Or don’t get Jack Ma wrong. He’s not putting down men for what they cannot do.

But what he’s trying to say is that women care about feelings more than guys do and the world needs feelings.

“No matter how strong a company or a country is, if you don’t care about others, you will lose them.” – Jack Ma

Wise words. Hooray for Jack Ma.
