I think many of us here have gone through many a diet only to fall short and revert back to our regular habit of eating.
However, one Japanese YouTuber has managed to stick to his strict diet and training and the results are, to say the least, extraordinary.
A promise made to self over a year ago
In 2019, Japanese YouTuber Ruibosu decided that enough was enough. Standing at 170 centimetres and weighing 137 kilograms, Ruibosu then decided to record his weight loss journey through a series of videos on his YouTube channel, pledging that it would be the “final diet” of his life.
I wish I could have this man’s discipline.
After months of working out and following a strict diet, the results of hard work and determination can be clearly seen since the first video was uploaded nearly a year ago.
Ruibosu has managed to go from 140 kilograms to 68.5 kilograms. And that’s not all. He has also managed to reduce his body fat from 42.9% to 18.6%.
Give this man a round of applause.
Two weeks ago, Ruibosu uploaded a 3-minute long video summarising his weight loss journey.
At the end of the video, Ruibosu stated that he lost half his body weight.
Baby steps at the start
Soranews24 reports that in the beginning, Ruibosu said that there wasn’t much he could do at the start but he did exercises that were manageable – jump rope, sit-ups and planking. After three months of continuous training and maintaining a strict diet, Ruibosu’s weight dropped from 137 kilograms to 108 kilograms.
Not even heavy raining days was able to stop this man.
Instead, he worked out on his roof. Soon he began lifting weights to develop muscles.
Rather than overexert himself and potentially injure himself, Ruibosu worked well within his abilities during his training. Shortly afterwards, he also took up kickboxing.
By keeping up with this target goal of losing five kilograms every month, Ruibosu stepped onto his weighing scale where it revealed that he was at 68.5 kilograms.
On the summary video, people have been praising him for his dedication to stick to his diet. Some have commented that he was “an inspiration” and that “It’s not just his face and body that have changed, his mind and outlook on life has changed as well.”
Not the end of his journey
By now, I think we can all agree that losing half your bodyweight is no easy feat.
Ruibosu mentions that weight training and maintaining a healthy diet is something he needs to continue doing for the rest of his life, reports Soranews24. Kind of like when my dentist says that if I want to have straight teeth forever, I’d have to continue wearing my retainers for the rest of my life.
Wishing others will be inspired by his transformation, Ruibosu continues uploading and live streaming videos of him working out.
If you’re feeling motivated to lose weight after watching Ruibosu’s journey, that’s good. But, remember to not push yourself and try to lose an unhealthy amount. Knowing your own limit is the first step in a successful diet. You can read some tips we have for you over here.
