Singapore might be many things, but there’s one thing it’s not:

Dangerous.

Now before you lambast me for making such a bold claim, I just wanna clarify: Singapore, like every other country, faces crimes and disorder on a daily basis. That’s a given, a foregone conclusion. However, unlike other countries, Singapore places such focus on the safety of its citizens that more often than not, you’re still relatively safe even if you run naked around your neighbourhood at 4:00 a.m. in the morning.

(Note: I’m just trying to state a point. Don’t really go running naked because obviously, you’re gonna catch a cold and we’re not responsible for your medical expenses.)

Yet, even so, we should all remember that even with Singapore’s stringent laws and practices, there are still scenarios that make it possible for crime to be committed. Leaving your choped table alone without a tissue packet is one, and leaving laptops on top of your car, as veteran Channel 8 actress Jesseca Liu came to find out…

Is definitely another.

Jesseca Liu Put Her Laptop on Top of Her Car & It Taught Us a Big Lesson

According to her caption, she had lost the laptop on the way home from her friend’s house at Block 650, Jalan Tenaga.

“I’m not sure if it dropped because I left it on the roof of my car,” she wrote in Mandarin.

“If anyone finds it, please contact me or my company.”

Apparently, the laptop contains important information, as well as a certain script.

She has reportedly made a police report.

A year’s effort

Speaking to Lianhe Wanbao, the 40-year-old explained that she had been working on a script for a long time, and had it saved on the laptop.

“The script had just been completed and I brought it to my friend to have a look so she could provide some art direction,” she said.

“But when I reached home, I realised that the laptop was gone.”

She also revealed that she had been working on the script for a year, and it had gone through multiple iterations before it was finally completed.

“What about a backup?” you wonder. “Surely she has a backup?”

According to her, the only copy of the script’s on the laptop, so if it’s truly missing, the actress would’ve essentially lost an entire year’s worth of effort.

I don’t know about you, but that hurts. A lot.

Help

If you have any information on the laptop’s whereabouts, or if you’re the perpetrator, you can reach out to Jesseca or her company at 6478 0660.

As for the rest of us, well, we can all learn from this lesson…

And not place our laptops on top of cars (and it’s not just theft; if the car drives off without your knowledge the laptop’s gonna fall and break).

Or alternatively, you can keep backup copies of your most important documents. Just in case.
