In case you missed it, JJ Lin is holding an in-person concert at the end of November.
He’s doing it for charity and wants to give people a sense of hope and happiness.
Well, turns out, his concert isn’t just doing that; it’ll bring a sense of normalcy to concert-goers as well.
People Attending JJ Lin Concert Won’t Need to Sit 1m Between Seats Due to New Rules
The one-metre safe-distancing measure, which has been with us for what seems like forever, will be forgone at JJ Lin’s concert.
On 18 Nov 2021, it was reported that JJ Lin’s concert is one of a few selected events which will be subjected to a new protocol named the Vaccinated-Differentiated safe management measures (VDS) + Test.
Sounds complex, but here’s what it means; no more one-metre distance between seats, no more zones, or increased zone capacity.
But these concessions do not come for free, just like anything else in Singapore.
To gain entry into the event, participants must be fully vaccinated and have their test results reflected on their TraceTogether app.
That, or perform a test right in front of the event organiser and venue operator.
Only when the all-clear is received will the participants be allowed to join in the fun.
This also means more available seats for JJ Lin’s concert, no?
Must Still Wear Mask
Now, you might be wondering; then what about masks?
For those who wish to no longer wear masks, you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
Marina Bay Sands said that while there is no need for a one-metre distance between seats, “prevailing safe-management measures” such as wearing masks throughout the concert is here to stay.
The Sands Theatre, where the concert will be held on 27 and 28 Nov 2021, is expecting about 2,000 people per night.
Longer Queues?
Now, this isn’t expanded on in the report but it makes sense.
When SafeEntry first started, entrances to malls were congested because everyone isn’t used to the new system.
So logically, if you’re going for the JJ Lin’s concert, chances are, you’ll be waiting for some time, no matter what.
The good thing is, however, if JJ Lin (and other test events) prove successful, we will be one step closer to the new norm.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) said they’ll monitor the outcome of these events before deciding whether it would be rolled out to other events.
Singapore has long since declared its intention to turn COVID-19 into an endemic, and the government is slowly easing restrictions to minimise the risk of taking “u-turns” and human costs.
Other Events Under New Protocol
As previously mentioned, JJ Lin’s concert isn’t the only one going through the new protocol.
Other events include:
- The annual Milken Institute Asia Summit with an increased capacity of 200 instead of 100 per zone
- The Bloomberg Economic Forum where groups of five (both delegates and non-delegates) are allowed to eat together
- The Industrial Transformation Asia Pacific 2021 which will have no zone requirements and increased hall capacity; Healthcare provider Raffles Medical Group will also be in charge of ART testing either on-site or at its clinics.
