That wasn’t verified, though.
However, this latest piece of news has been carried by various news outlets and it could well be as disturbing.
According to allkpop, an Indonesian fan has fortunately managed to survive after she attempted to commit suicide.
Indonesian news outlet Tribune News reports that the fan Tweeted: “I can’t endure it anymore. Mom, dad, Jonghyun oppa, we’ll meet really soon.”
She also wrote, “Should I give up my life for now since I lost both of my parents and my idol? It’s stressing me out.”
She was found collapsed on the floor, after overdosing on medication and was taken to a hospital.
As of 19 December 2017, she has recovered consciousness, and shows signs of regret for her own actions, according to Indonesian fan accounts.
She has also deleted her Twitter account.
Media reports are worried for a possible Werther effect, which is a wave of copycat suicides after a widely publicized suicide appears on the headline.
The effect had been seen after the deaths of influential characters such as Marilyn Monroe.
Fans and netizens are encouraged to share positive messages and to be on the lookout for each other.
In fact, everyone should look out for each other, especially if you’ve a friend who’s a fan of Kim Jong Hyun.
If you know of someone who is deeply affected by this incident and showed suicidal thoughts, please call the Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) at 1800-221 4444.
