Joshua Tan shot to fame for his role in Ah Boys To Men, but even in another country, he continually impresses fans here in Singapore.
This includes the way he proposed to his then-girlfriend.
And now, the way he stepped up to a bully in a foreign country.
Ah Boys to Men Actor Joshua Tan Earned Praises for Keeping Cool During a Racist Road Rage
What happens when someone, in a rage-fuelled move, got into your face so much you’d kiss him if you moved another few centimetres forward?
You’d probably shove him away, especially in these COVID-19 times. A punch or two might even seem reasonable to you.
Actor Joshua Tan, however, showed us a different way of doing stuff.
On 29 Nov 2021, Tan took to his Instagram account to share his experience with a complete stranger.
He is currently in Sydney with his fiancee, Zoen Tay.
In the forty-second video that he shared, an older man dressed in a pink hoodie could be seen gesturing violently at the actor, swearing and screaming at him in front of his vehicle.
The man could be heard accusing Tan of blocking a line before parking slowly into his current spot.

The situation seems to be very tense and the couple’s pet dachshund could be heard whining in the video background.
The situation seemingly escalated as time passes, with the man getting right into Tan’s face while yelling at him.
So close that it makes you wonder if COVID-19 doesn’t exist in that part of the world.
Tan, however, didn’t react to the man’s provocations or heated words.
His body language was calm and measured, and he attempted to reason with the man.
As for why Tan reacted calmly, he wrote in the caption of the post:
“RACISM IS NOT OK BULLYING SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED (sic) It is possible to stay calm but also stand up to bullies, some resort to aggression and raised voices when confronted by firm restraint. However, it is possible to stand up for yourself while at the same time, not resort to violence.”
Tay’s Side Of The Story
After the incident, his fiancee, Tay, also took to her Instagram account to share her side of the story.

She had taken the video from the car because she was afraid that the man would hit Tan.
She shared that there were bystanders during the incident.
They had screamed and scolded the man and came forward to ask Tan if he was okay after the incident.
She ended off with the post that the least everyone can do these days is to be a “nice decent human being”.
As for whether Tan could’ve fought back against the man, his next IG post seems to settle the issue:
