It seems that food courts are not doing well these days; from the recent closure of the iconic Bugis Junction food court to the unfortunate food court cluster way back in May, it seems like things could not get any worst until now.
A food court in Bishan Junction 8 has been temporarily banned from allowing patrons to dine in after customers repeatedly broke COVID-19 rules.
Food Court in Junction 8 Banned from Dine-In After Patrons Repeatedly Break COVID-19 Rules
From 4 Dec to 13 Dec, patrons of Bishan Junction 8’s Food Junction will not be able to dine in.
This option is suspended due to customers repeatedly breaking the 1m safe distancing management rules. This has caused the businesses in the food court to dip even lower, falling by between 30% to 50%.
Although takeaways are still allowed in the food court, not many people chose to dabao from there considering how there are various other cheaper options in the vicinity.
Various signs have also been displayed outside the Food Junction informing customers that only takeaway services are available. The management also apologises for any inconvenience caused via the sign.
At least all these restrictions in this food court are temporary, unlike the fate of the Food Junction in Bugis Junction.
Permanent Closure of Food Court at Bugis Junction
Food Junction in Bugis Junction has closed permanently three days ago. No official reasons were given for the reason of the sudden closure, though.
If you have been to the food court in recent months, you will notice that there were more stall keepers than patrons at certain points during lunch – supposedly the busiest time of the day.
You can learn more about the closure here.
