February has seen a recent string of horrific events in Singapore.

Headlines were made recently with the stabbing incident in Tampines, and the car crash in Tanjong Pagar.

These events have occurred within days of one another, and unfortunately, it seems that another incident has happened in their wake.

Stabbing in Jurong East

A 35-year-old man has been apprehended for allegedly stabbing and murdering a 34-year-old woman yesterday (16 Feb).

On Wednesday (Feb 17), the police said that they were alerted at about 11.55pm on Tuesday. They had received a call for assistance along Jurong East Street 32.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the woman lying motionless with multiple stab wounds at the void deck of Block 308 Jurong East Street 32.

She was unconscious when transported to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, and was subsequently pronounced dead at about 1.30am on Wednesday.

The man was arrested by the police for “suspected involvement in the murder”. Preliminary investigations revealed that both parties knew each other.

Additionally, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they had received a call for assistance at 12.05am on Wednesday, and had taken two people to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

When Chinese-language daily Lianhe Zaobao arrived at the scene, large bloodstains were found on the ground floor of Block 308. Drops of blood were also spotted at the walkway of Block 307.

Residents informed Lianhe Zaobao that the police had cordoned off the area for about nine hours.

When The Straits Times arrived at the scene at 10.15am, the bloodstains had already been washed away.

The man will be charged with murder on Thursday (18 Feb). If he is found guilty, he will face the death penalty.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
