K-Pop Group 2NE1 Reuniting, To Hold Global Tour Beginning In October

Here’s some good news for fans of one of the most popular K-pop girl groups back in the day.

K-pop group 2NE1 will be reuniting, said YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun-suk announced in a video posted on YouTube.

2NE1 will be holding a global tour to celebrate its 15th anniversary which will kick off in early October in Seoul and Osaka and Tokyo at the end of November and December.

Yang revealed that concert venues have already been booked for these shows. He added that more performances will be added as schedules are finalized.

“The members of 2NE1 informed me that they’d like to hold a concert commemorating their 15th anniversary so we caught up and happily discussed making it all happen within this year.

It will start early October in Seoul and we already booked a performance venue in Osaka and Tokyo for the end of November and December. We’re in the process of adjusting schedules for further performances.”

YG Entertainment, which 2NE1 debuted under, also took to X to share the exciting news:

Memories For Those Who Grew Up with 2NE1’s Music

Yang said that the concert would be special, especially for those who grew up with 2NE1’s music. He added that staff members are already working hard to make the anniversary concert a success.

“I think this concert will be quite special. It resonates with those who grew up with 2NE1’s music, sharing those memories. And in the case of 2NE1, they have an incredible number of hit songs so all the staff are working hard together to create a successful show.”

Who Is 2NE1?

Lest you’re unaware, 2NE1 is a girl group comprising four members: CL, Sandara Park, Minzy and Park Bom.

They debuted back in May 2009 with the single Fire and hits such as Lonely and I Don’t Care.

However, the group later disbanded in April 2016 following the departure of Minzy, while the other members focused on their solo careers.

Speculations

The announcement of 2NE1’s reunion may not come as a surprise to some K-pop fans.

Rumours about the group’s comeback have been swirling ever since CL was spotted outside YG Entertainment building.

In the same video, Yang announced that Blackpink will also be making a highly anticipated comeback next year.

It will also be the year that Blackpink, Babymonster and Treasure will begin their world tours.
