Kenny Rogers Has Officially Reopened in JEM Today (6 Oct) & The Food Looks Lit

Back in April this year, oldies like me cried for a few days.

Kenny Rogers, the OG western restaurant before Astons and Chargrill Bar came in like cannonballs, was the go-to for anything western in an air-conditioned environment. Teachers would organise dinners in Kenny Rogers, and poor students like us would set a goal to have a meal there in the future when we’ve started earning money.

Fast-forward to April this year, and when we finally have more than $100 in our bank account, Kenny Rogers’ last outlet closed down.

But our tears dried up soon after, when an unexpected hero came in to save our memories: Edmund Chan 老火汤’s parent company, Lao Huo Tang Group of Companies, bought the brand over and revamped the entire menu and system while retaining its name.

Back then, we didn’t know when Kenny Rogers would be back, or where the new outlet would be in.

Now we know.

Kenny Rogers in JEM

It’s been reported in August that the first outlet would be in JEM, but it was unknown when the doors would open.

Once again, the folks from Singapore Atrium Sale got the scoop and teleported to the place to give us a report.

Its official opening date?

Today (6 October 2019).

Local Food with a Twist

Unlike the Kenny Rogers we were familiar with, the chain’s getting a remake altogether—and that includes its food.

Do you have a friend who has a fake life on Instagram? This would explain why they're living the "Instagram Life": (Also remember to follow us on Instagram!)

Instead of the usual western fare, Kenny Rogers will now be selling local fares.

Here’s the menu:

Not exactly the cheapest nasi lemak ever, but still reasonable.

And the food looks lit.

Just so you know, it’s Halal certified, so Muslims can enjoy the food there with their non-Muslim pals.

Part of JEM’s Revamped Basement Food Enclave

The retail space near Jurong East MRT Station is competitive, given that there are three malls and a “central” (i.e. shops below HDB shophouses) there.

Kenny Rogers is located in JEM’s revamped basement food enclave, an area filled with many F&B establishments like Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice and Monga.

The Kenny Rogers outlet sits on a 2,200 sq ft space and has 80 seats.

If you’re thinking of waiting for the queues to die off before heading there, kill that thought immediately and head down right now.

Because they’re having an opening promotion.

100 Kenny Rogers VIP Cards will be given to the first 100 customers daily from today until 15 October 2019. This card entitles you to 20% off your total bill every time, and is valid for a year.

Now, please excuse me as I make my way to my memories now.
