KFC must have been playing a lot of Outlast 2 recently.
Because where else would they get the inspiration for their newest ‘training’ VR game?
Like seriously, KFC, are you guys trying to teach your up-and-coming employees to fry those chickens, or subject them to night after night of endless nightmares?
Watch the ‘trailer’ first.

What’s this game?
The game, called “The Hard Way – a KFC Virtual Training Escape Room,” is a 25-minute long game in which participants start off in some creepy dungeon with a fryer out of all things.
The goal of the game is actually pretty simple: prepare fried chicken to secure your way out. If you told me that from the start I would be like, “Meh, lame”.
In reality? Far from it.
If you’ve seen the video, you would notice that there’s spooky music playing in the background.
I know working in KFC itself is a horror show because you prepare such fattening fried chicken for people, but still?
The disembodied voice of Colonel Sanders himself and an atmosphere that makes you think, ‘**** this, I’m outta here.’ I might not be sure of everything but I’m pretty sure that’s not something you want your new cooks to think.
You know, if you replace Colonel Sanders with Jigsaw and turn the chicken-fryers into a legitimate human-fryer, the vibe wouldn’t change that much. That’s saying a lot.
Why did KFC create such an abomination innovative game?
According to KFC’s press release, the VR exercise takes workers through the entire deep-frying process in 10 minutes, as compared to the 25 minutes it would have taken in real life. Well, that’s 15 minutes less of pay, so it’s understandable.
The KFC spokesperson clarified that the VR won’t replace hands-on experience though. (Yeah, I can totally tell)
He said, “the game is intended to supplement the existing Chicken Mastery program, not replace it. This is intended to be a fun way to celebrate the work KFC’s more than 19,000 cooks do every day in every restaurant across the U.S. in an engaging way.”
Well, it sure is engaging. Whether it’s in a positive way…
But somehow, KFC just keeps churning out weirder and weirder stuff, huh? Like the takeout box that works as a phone charger, and the chicken bucket that incorporates a photo printer.
Thoughts
I’m sure KFC applications must have dropped by a substantial margin.
Alright, I don’t know about that, but I’m sure about one thing though. My friend Boon Hun would definitely not send in an application.
Seeing how it’s the 7th month, and how horror movies are portrayed nowadays, the least you want is to suffer a horrible death being cloaked in oil.
Alright, that’s just the VR game.
But seriously… just look at these.
