I’m pretty sure you’re aware of what Khatib HomeTeamNS clubhouse is by now, either as the “counter-strike” place or the unlucky place which has Covid-19 visits when it just opened.
Well, if you happen to be staying near the clubhouse, or you’re looking for things to do in Singapore because you can’t travel anywhere, here are 10 facts about Khatib HomeTeamNS that might make you want to go there immediately.
1. Singapore’s Newest HomeTeamNS Clubhouse
This is Singapore’s latest HomeTeamNS Clubhouse, and to be honest, this will make you wish that you’ve served NS either in the Singapore Police Force or the Singapore Civil Defence Force.
It’s 21,000 sqm big and it’s jam-packed full of fun stuff. So fun and so much that you’ll probably go back again and again with friends.
This clubhouse is the first to be built from scratch and features an urban retreat theme.
2. Designed By A World-Renowned Architect Firm
If you’re wondering why the clubhouse looks so chio (Hokkien for pretty) and modern, that’s because it’s actually designed by DP Architects, an award-winning Singapore global practice.
They’re the guys who designed Esplanade
And the Golden Mile Complex
By the way, it might look ghetto as hell now but when the Golden Mile Complex was first built, it was praised by architects all around the world.
World-famous architecture expert, Dutch Rem Koolhaas, declared Golden Mile Complex and People’s Park Complex as “accidental landmarks and bold, experimental structures”.
3. A Green Clubhouse
Basically, when a building claims to be green, it simply means they made use of many innovative solutions to use less energy.
And that’s the Khatib HomeTeamNS in a nutshell.
The landscape and open-air sheltered verandahs aren’t just pleasing to the eyes, but it also helps the building to naturally cool down.
The swimming pool, instead of using sand to filter the water, has an ECO filtration system that requires less water for cleaning.
It is claimed that up to 30 per cent less water will be used.
The natural cooling system is also more energy-efficient and the creators say it consumes no more than one light bulb in your own home.
4. Real-Life Counter-Strike
Calling it a Tactical Stimulator, or TactSIM for short, it’s an indoor arena which allows players to fight against other players with airsoft guns in an urban environment.
If you’re wondering if it’s as fun as it looks, it apparently is, according to this Facebook user who went to take a look.
Doors can be locked to add difficulty to the enemies, walls are movable to ensure that you won’t be bored fighting in matches after matches and there are different weapons available, including an MP5 and a pistol.
Each session can accommodate up to 20 people, more than enough to make it a really fun battle.
However, as a Safe Management measure, only 10 people are allowed for both areas (5 pax per arena).
P/S: The arena allegedly isn’t open yet because they’re still pending safety checks.
5. Singapore Largest Fitness Workz Gym
Fitness Workz is the name of the gym operated at HomeTeamNS Clubhouses and within the hallowed halls of Khatib HomeTeamNS clubhouse lies Singapore’s largest Fitness Workz gym to date.
Here’s a first look at the largest Fitness Workz gym in the entire country filled with tons of equipment gym buffs dream of every night.
The huge gym is split into 9 different zones including a boxing zone and a guardian bridge so you’ll never be bored there.
Currently, the gym is only limited to HomeTeamNS members so if you’re not one and you want to try this gym out for yourself, you’ll have to wait for a bit.
6. ManCaves
Always wanted a ManCave but your wife absolutely forbids you from having one? Well, you can now have your very own ManCave for a few hours.
Here’s what a ManCave looks like:
There are four of them within the clubhouse, all geared up with the latest entertainment gadgets including:
- Wi-Fi
- Air-Conditioning
- Smart TV
- Karaoke System
- Game Consoles
- Board Games
- Fridge
- Build-in Kitchenette
- Bar Counter (only at ManCave Deluxe)
- Outdoor BBQ Patio with Electric Grill
You can rent them for events like birthday celebrations, baby showers, or even a retreat for a corporate getaway (since we can’t travel anywhere else anyway).
There is a maximum capacity of 5 pax for social gathering during this COVID-19 period.
You can find out more details here.
7. Adventure HQ
Another ‘First in Singapore’, the Adventure HQ is a 2,800sqm, 4-storey obstacle course. Oh, did I mention that it’s indoors?
It features a variety of high and low obstacles for both NSmen and schools or company employees to play around with.
Take on challenges like the Challenge Rope Course, Indoor Gliding, Sensory Adventure Trail and even Firemen slides.
Ninja warrior, anyone?
Again, similar to TactSIM, this facility isn’t open yet so if you want updates, just make sure to check their website from time to time.
8. Developed From The Feedback of Servicemen
If you’re wondering why the HomesTeamNS clubhouse at Khatib seems to have everything you’ve wished for, it’s probably because they went and surveyed SCDF and SPF’s NSMen.
Then, they developed the design and utility for this clubhouse based on the feedback.
Apparently, the top “wants” for the NSMen were more facilities for team-building and training (wait, really?), which is why you get ManCaves and TactSIM.
9. Not Fully Opened Yet
Now, if you’re wondering whether members of the public are able to enjoy the facilities without being a member, the answer is yes, but not all of them.
Currently, only 13 out of the 19 facilities at the clubhouse is open for business.
And even so, not all of them are available to the public.
It’s Covid-19 so for the time being, the use of some facilities are restricted to HomeTeamNS members only.
Like the Fitness Workz gym, which is currently for Fitness Workz members only and the swimming pool:
Now you know why I say you’d wished you had served your NS in the Home Team?
10. Two More HomeTeamNS Clubhouses Upcoming
The Khatib HomeTeamNS Clubhouse is one of three upcoming clubhouses that are planned.
So if you’re wondering how cool HomeTeamNS clubhouses will be in the near future, you’ll have two more to look forward to.
According to another HomeTeamNS article, three new clubhouses are planned to be opened within the next 10 to 15 years.
