In the past, whenever kids saw a cat, they’d go, “Meow, meow, meow.”
Then the parents would appear out of nowhere and slapped the kids, saying something like this: “You don’t disturb the cat, wait the cat scratch you then you know!”
So as we grew older, we became afraid of cats. My colleague, who’s now an adult, would suddenly ace his 2.4km run whenever he hears a cat meowing, and he looks so manly like this:

But it seems like the world has changed, because nowadays, it’s the other way around.
Kids Caught Throwing a Large Rock at a Cat
Now, just so you know, this is a disturbing footage, especially if you’re a cat lover.
A video was uploaded to Facebook Page ROADS.sg on Saturday, showing three kids trying to lure a cat out.
The cat seemed to be resting below a taxi, and when disturbed, the cat immediately ran out and stared at the children.

Surprisingly, the kids seem undaunted. A girl ran towards it, and a boy tossed a rock at the cat, nearly hitting the girl as well.
According to the description, it happened on Friday (23 November 2018) at Blk 653 Hougang Ave 8 car park.

These 3 kids were caught chasing and stoning this community cat. The video caught them in the act and poster shouted at them after this to stop and behave themselves.

Parents of these kids must take them to task and tell them that it is an offence to abuse any animal in Singapore. The stone was of fist size and would have been very damaging if it hit the cat.
Moreover, the rocks thrown could have also damaged parked cars. If your car was damaged yesterday in this carpark, then it is the responsibility of these 3 kids.

STOP Animal Abuse In SG
Well, if those kids think that they can get away with it, they’ve got to think twice.
Because in the past, if we do something like that, we’ll get punished by two individuals: the cat and our parents.
This time, two authorities stepped in instead.
AVA & SPCA Step In
You can’t expect the authorities to stand by and do nothing, especially so when over 47K people have viewed the video, right?
I mean, the cat most probably is also looking for evidence to claim insurance.

According to The Straits Times, the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) knows about the incident and is looking into it.
In addition, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has also stepped in to investigate. However, the Executive Director of SPCA has this to say: “The cat is not currently in SPCA’s care and we are yet to ascertain if it suffered any physical injuries. Based on the video, the cat was clearly in distress.”
SPCA added that they receive about 5 to 10 cases of alleged animal abuses a month, though cases of abuse by kids are rare.
Well, maybe adults are protecting the kids because #strawberry
