Family Reportedly Washed Kitten in Washing Machine For 30 Mins By Accident

Ask any of my friends and you’ll know I absolutely love dogs more than cats.

It’s a pity that dogs can’t talk; I’d love to know what’s going on in their mind.

With that said, it’s not that I hate cats. For some reason, I find it harder to get along with felines.

I attribute it to the fact they have claws as sharp as Wolverine and look like they’re ready to attack you if you make one wrong move.

But does that mean it’s okay to stuff them into a washing machine?

Nope.

But that was what happened to this six-month-old kitten in Australia. Albeit accidentally.

According to ABC Australia, a family in Australia got the scare of a lifetime on 4 April 2019.

They found their beloved kitten in the washing machine while it was in use for 30 whole minutes.

The Burrs were searching for the six-month-old cat, Poppy, for a while before Ms Burr realized she could have been in the washing machine.

In an interview with ABC News, Ms Burr said “I think she must’ve gotten in between me moving the washing basket out and getting the second load in” and “I didn’t see the kitten anywhere [but] she must’ve been somewhere close by and jumped in as I moved the baskets and put another load of washing in.”

Poppy was reportedly assumed to have died after she was discovered; according to Ms Burr, “I thought her neck was broken, she was limp, she wasn’t breathing [well].”

Medical help was sought immediately

ABC News reports that not long after, the Burrs rushed Poppy to Launceston’s Animal Medical Centre where she was attended to by veterinarian, Tim Laws.

According to Dr Laws, Poppy “had water in her lungs, head injuries and a very bruised eye”, furthermore, “she was very out of it [and] her temperature was below normal.”

Must’ve been tough especially since cats are neat by nature and are known to avoid getting wet as much as possible.

“She must’ve been absolutely terrified whilst she was in there. It would have been very difficult. I suppose you’re in with the clothes but the constant whacking of her head and gasping for air… it’s probably not far from a [miracle]”, Dr Laws added.

Poor kitten.

Cats do have nine lives after all

Thankfully, the feline did not sustain fractures or severe damage and is “back to her old ways of running and jumping off couches”, Ms Burrs recounted.

Poppy lived up to the saying that cats indeed have nine lives, and has recovered from the washing machine scare within three weeks.

I must say, despite looking a little derp, she seems to be in pretty good shape.

If you’re lucky enough to have pets, please take good care of them.

Don’t microwave them when you’re hungry, and definitely don’t throw them into the washing machine when they’re dirty.
