If you weren’t aware, the #MeToo movement is making some big changes across the globe.
In South Korea, it has managed to unveil some of the darkest secrets of the entertainment industry, according to Allkpop.
Jo Min Ki
The 52-year-old actor is also a professor at Cheongju University.
Using his authority, he constantly sexually harass students, invite them to his house, offer them drinks, and also asking a student to live with him.
So disgusting.
He was reported by a netizen and his actions immediately got him suspended from the institution.
While his agency denied the claims, more victims spoke up about his dirty deeds.
The actor has now deactivated his social media accounts and cancelled all schedules.
He previously acted in numerous dramas, such as Moon Lovers.
Oh Dal Soo
At the same time, another netizen spoke up about an actor whose last name is Oh.
“In the 90s at Busan theater, he was a play-actor that constantly harassed young hoobaes. Currently, he’s a famous comedic supporting actor. To me, he’s a pervert, the devil, and a psychopath. I have been receiving mental treatment for the past 20 years due to the shock of the disgusting incident. I hope he gets punished.”
Links were drawn to 50-year-old Oh Dal Soo.
He starred in many well-known films, such as Miracle in Cell No.7.
The actor has not given any reply regarding the issue.
However, it is reported that he has broken up with actress Chae Kook Hee.
Jo Jae Hyun
An alleged victim claimed that a ‘J’ forcefully kissed a staff worker and touched her breast.
Hearing the news, actress Choi Yul shared a photo of Jo Jae Hyun on her Instagram and revealed, “I was wondering when this would bust. Happened earlier than I thought. It’s now just the beginning. There are still many more trash out there. I can’t say much because I have a lot to lose but till the day where there are no perverts #metoo #withyou.”
An alleged victim revealed in an interview that Jo would come to her from behind and slid his hand underneath her clothes.
He will then give her cash and told her to forget everything.
Currently, he’s part of tvN‘s drama Cross.
The producers have stated that he will be removed “as soon as possible”.
He has admitted
Following investigations into the matter, Jo has admitted to the claims.
His daughter Jo Hae Jung, who is known for her role in Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo, has disabled the comments function on her SNS.
Thoughts
I’m glad the #MeToo movement is empowering women and giving them the courage to speak out and face their fear.
But we all know that there are so many of them who are still hiding in fear.
Let’s hope that one day their voices can be heard without judgement.
