Toxic KPOP Fans Speculates ‘Who’s Next’ After Sulli’s Suicide

If you’re an avid fan of K-Pop, you most probably would have heard of the tragic news by now.

Even if you’re not, you should have still seen your friends sharing it.

Choi Jin-Ri, better known as Sulli, who used to be a member of the Korean girl group f(x), had committed suicide. If you want to read up, here’s a short article for you.

But if you need a TL;DR summary, she hung herself at home due to depression, speculated to have stemmed from frequent cyber-bullying and hate comments from Korean netizens.

Needless to say, with this unfortunate death happening not too long after SHINee’s Jonghyun, perhaps the world is starting to take the seriousness of cyberbullying even more seriously.

Korean MPs have also sworn to toughen their stance against cyber violence.

With the prevalence of Joker (2019), the importance of mental health is also a public concern currently.

But as always, it seems that some people just don’t get the memo.

“Who’s Next?”

Now, prepare for some news that’s gonna make you sick in the stomach.

While fans and even non-fans pour in their condolences for Sulli, there are certain… humans (questionable) who are keeping up their hate.

Seen in some screenshots compiled by a fan page, there are many users on Twitter who are actually happy about the news.

And to make it worse, they are also speculating and putting in their wishes for the next suicide victim.

A seemingly popular choice seems to be Jennie from Blackpink.

I know I should be impartial but JENNIE IS “LAZY AND UGLY”?!

One of the tweets says: “But imagine Jennie actually committing suicide. That’d be the happiest day of my life. Then we’d target Lisa the skeleton.”

A possible reasoning for this choice is due to the popularity of Blackpink at the moment which is at an all-time high.

Jealousy, perhaps?

“Lisa the skeleton” seems to be a hateful reference towards her slim figure.

Yep, definitely jealousy.

BTS ARMY Strikes Again?

Perhaps the most sickening of all is this particular Twitter account.

Yep, you read right. This thing (refusing to call it a human being) is claiming that Sulli committed suicide purely for fame and so she could trend #1 on Twitter.

She then also added that “bts is trending everyday” so “that’s really not a success”.

As if that wasn’t enough, it also taunted Sulli’s fans and asked them to “screenshot Sulli trending #1 and bring it to her grave”, sarcastically claiming that it felt “sorry for her”.

This was also far from the first time this user has commented negatively on K-pop news, as seen in its previous tweets.

Potential Troll?

Now, frankly speaking, the BTS ARMY really doesn’t have the best reputation even amongst K-Pop fandoms.

But this has to be too much even for the craziest BTS ARMYs.

I sincerely and genuinely hope that this account is just a troll who’s attempting to smear the name of ARMYs further.

If this is actually a troll account, it’s somebody with a very, very poor sense of humour.

If this is a genuine account… I don’t even know what to say.

Either, he/she needs to take a long hard look at his/her own life.

Mental Health & Cyberbullying

But to end off, I cannot stress enough the importance of mental health and also the negative impacts of cyberbullying.

I’m personally somebody with a very dark sense of humour, but this is where even I draw the line.
