KTV Chain with IG-Worthy Rooms Announcing Reopening ‘Soon’ & Even Opening a New Outlet in Plaza Sing

One of the most depressing things about 2020 is that we can no longer have KTV sessions with our friends.

Belting out tunes with them was one of life’s simple pleasures, before Covid-19 came along and ruined everything.

Sure, KTV owners would rush to your room and ask if a cat was dying, and you’d have to explain to them that that was just how your voice sounded, but it didn’t matter.

It was a great way to unwind.

Recently, after months of us begging, it was announced that some nightlife businesses, including KTV studios, will be allowed to reopen, albeit with a host of safeguards.

Now, one popular KTV chain has hinted at reopening in the near future.

K.Star Karaoke will reveal the date of their reopening soon according to a post on the studio’s Facebook page.

In the post, shared on Sunday (9 Nov), the studio said it hoped to see its patrons “soon”.

In another post on the same day, the studio announced they’ll be giving away special gifts for their reopening, which they will reveal in time.

The KTV chain, which opened a year ago on 9 Nov, is known for its Instagrammable interior.

The studio is a chaotic blend of the old and the new, with retro flooring and modern fittings.

While you’re there to sing your heart out, K.Star Karaoke’s studio will make you feel like you’re in an art gallery in space.

Last month, the studio also announced they’d be opening another outlet at Plaza Singapura, despite being closed for several months.

Even when they open, though, entering KTV outlets won’t be as easy during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Safe Management Measures

Some KTV studios will be permitted to open, but only under a pilot programme with a long list of safe management measures.

For one, patrons must wear their masks at all times even while singing or dancing, and can only remove them when they’re eating or drinking.

Moreover, and this is the tough part, all customers entering KTV lounges and nightclubs must have tested negative for the coronavirus 24 hours prior to the end of the activity at the establishment.

This test must either be a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test or an antigen rapid test (ART).

Pilots for karaoke lounges and nightclubs will only begin in January 2021 and will last for three months.

So if K.Star Karaoke does reopen “soon”, it’ll likely be in the beginning of next year.

Given how expensive Covid-19 tests are – around $200 – only those who are drowning in cash or desperate to sing with their friends might be able to visit these places.
