So, we just published a story about a GrabCar driver who trusted his GPS so much that he almost went to JB when he was supposed to go to RP, and then it turned out that there’s also an Uber driver who trusted his principles so much that he defied the law of maths and drove an additional 19 km just to make a point.
Here’s what happened: the two ladies, a 29-year-old and a 30-year-old, had taken an Uber ride, thinking that they’ll have $5 deducted off their bill. With Uber’s new system of paying by cash, it’s projected to cost about $6.00.
They were moving from a flat in Yishun Ring Road to their new room in Yishun Street 51, which is relatively close.

But it turned out that the discount of $5 was not applied, so they had to pay the full amount of $6.20…when they were expecting to pay just $1.20. However, they had then no cash or credit card with them.
According to Zaobao, after a war of words, the driver tried to contact Uber but failed. The driver then drove on, complaining angrily about the Uber app.
Finally, they reached a police station—in Ubi. That’s 20 km away, when, well, the nearest police station is just 1.2 km away, which is a 3-minute drive.
The matter was not resolved in the police station, and the ladies did not pay up. Seeing that he could do nothing more, the driver just left the two ladies in Ubi and drove off, still refusing to take the twenty cents that the ladies have allegedly offered.
Here’re some questions that really need to be answered: why didn’t the ladies just find $6 from somewhere? Secondly, why the heck did the Uber driver drove them to a police station in Ubi?
Thirdly…now that the ladies are stranded in Ubi with no money, are they still there? Because this story seems to be even more twisted than the GrabCar one.
But in all honesty, the driver is damn satki, indeed.
