I love laksa.
The creamy and chilli filled broth with noodles always just hits all the right notes.
Coupled with fish cakes, prawn and cockles? Perfect dish for any meal of the day.
You can even experiment with just throwing random ingredients into the mix and it’ll still taste good!
Just make sure those ingredients are actually edible and not going to potentially kill you.
Metal Object In Laksa
You’ve heard of insects appearing in food but today, we’re upping the level.
Or at the very least, equally bad.
A Stomper known as Kok bought some Laksa from 328 Katong Laksa at 51 East Coast Road for his family on 14 June. All seemed pretty normal.
However, as his mom was finishing her bowl, she “found a sharp metal piece in the gravy.”
Luckily, there were no reports of her biting or swallowing it.
Still, many people were pretty horrified and the Facebook post went viral. As of this writing. it’s gotten 541 reactions, 100 comments and over 290 shares.

Questionable Preparation
Kok was understandably angered by this discovery.
“I was appalled as this metal piece could have caused serious harm to anyone who ingested it, especially when the person in question is elderly.”
He also mentions that the people who prepared the food were negligent and very questionable.
Kok was unable to give feedback to the eatery via their Facebook page but said he intention was not to get a refund or replacement bowl of laksa.
Instead, he just wants the outlet to take note of how serious the situation is by highlighting it.
SFA Steps In
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) basically doubles up as food cops and this case certainly got their attention.
A spokesman mentioned that SFA is now investigating the matter.
“While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices.”
“SFA will not hesitate to take enforcement action against errant food handlers if we have obtained sufficient evidence.”
If you find any errant food operators or see some mad suspicious stuff, you can actually feedback to SFA through this link.
Iron is important for a balanced meal but this certainly isn’t the kind we need.
Hopefully, other food outlets will be a little bit more careful now.
