In a whole new episode of Carouhell, a $35,000 Rolex watch was swapped with a counterfeit one.
According to Stomp, the seller, known as Mr Tang, was an active Carousell user and regularly list Rolex and Panerai watches for sale.
The interested ‘buyer’ of the said watch contacted him on Carousell.
Mr Tang wanted to use the money from selling the watch to buy a house with his fiancee.
Here’s what happened
Mr Tang sent his fiancee to meet the buyer as he was busy.
The buyer insisted on putting the watch back into its box, and his fiancee did not think much about his action.
When Mr Tang returned home that night, he wanted to look at the watch.
However, he noticed that the colour of the watch appeared to be different as compared to his watch.
It was also lighter in terms of weight.
Mr Tang soon realised that he could have been cheated.
He tried to contact the buyer but couldn’t reach him.
The buyer has also deactivated all his social media accounts.
Mr Tang was set on finding him. So he went online and successfully found the buyer’s home address and mobile number.
Not sure how he did it, but that’s some level of #FBI right there.
Mr Tang followed the address and the buyer’s mother opened the door.
After listening to Mr Tang explain about the theft, she apologised to him on her son’s behalf, and even begged for his forgiveness on her knees.
The buyer’s father was very shocked to hear about the alleged theft.
He said: “My son is a good person. My family is disappointed to hear of the claims made against him.”
Mr Tang had already made a police report and investigations are ongoing.
Even though we are not sure whether the buyer is really at fault, his parent’s love towards him tells us one thing:
Whatever you do, please think about your parents lah.
Also over a rolex watch
According to Stomp, one buyer tried to cause a commotion while authenticating the watch.
He then swiftly swapped the real one with a fake one.
Then, he made the seller sign an agreement for the transaction.
And guess what? He pulled the I-have-no-money. Typical.
The seller kindly let him go to withdraw cash, but the sly thief tried to escape twice in the meantime.
Well, the two met at a hospital that the seller was hospitalised in.
The buyer had his IC No. recorded at the front desk.
So the seller used this information to ‘threaten’ him.
The buyer immediately came back to return the watch.
He then quickly told the seller he needed to go to the bathroom.
And disappeared ever since.
In a whole different incident, another Rolex watch was also swapped with a fake one.
The buyer was a young Chinese boy who seemed to work in a group, as he was on his phone during the whole meetup.
He gave the seller the fake watch, which was pointed out immediately.
After being offered $10,000 as compensation, the seller still decided to call the police as he was certain that the buyer didn’t have so much money.
The buyer then started running away, but was caught up with eventually.
When the police arrived, he said that he was dizzy and an ambulance was called.
He was eventually taken away by the police.
