When people got to know that bubble tea shops will be closed for at least two weeks, Bubble Tea Addicts all went apeshit and formed queues just for that last cup of bubble tea.
It got so bad, tempers flared and one GrabFood rider was even arrested for public nuisance after he lost his cool with a bubble tea shop.
Suffice to say, people would do anything for a cup of chilled teh tarik filled with chewy tropical pearls.
But why buy it when you can make it?
LiHO Releases DIY Pre-made Bubble Tea Kit at $85 for Up to 20 Cups
Two weeks ago, I wrote an article on how to make bubble tea at home within ten minutes by purchasing pre-made ingredients online.
Reader Bao: It was only two days ago.
Oh, right, I’ve lost track of time. Hopefully August has been kind to you.
In my article, I spoke about buying two key ingredients: instant milk tea and topical pearls.
It turns out that LiHO has the same thought as well, because they’re now selling these ingredients, completed with cups and straws, as a Bubble Tea Kit.
Known as the DIY Bubble Tea Kit, it comes in two flavours:
Here’s their Facebook post that’s gone viral:
Instead of just selling them online as a regular item, they’ve an exclusive deal with Shopee; they would only be released at 12pm daily in Shopee with limited quantities, so you’ve got to be fast as today is the first day and it’s sold out fastly.
One kit is at $85 and you can make about 15 to 20 cups with it.
So on average, each cup would cost about $4.25 to $5.66.
But is it easy to cook the pearls?
As a matter of fact, yes. If you know how to cook instant noodles, you’d know how to cook the pearls.
You can read the article I’ve penned two weeks two days ago that have all the instructions in Goody-Feed style.
And of course, if you can’t buy the kit from LiHO, you can buy the ingredients separately as well, though, of course, it won’t taste as good lah.
But beggars can’t be choosers.
To know more about bubble teas and why you’ve to make sure that you cook the pearls thoroughly, check out this video we’ve done:
