So you must be thinking – ask me go all the way to Hong Kong just to eat a Kong Bak Bao? You meh gao chor ah? (Are you kidding me? in Canto)
Yes, I’m not kidding.
Located in Hong Kong on Stauton Street, you’ll be able to spot this cafe from its neon signboard at a distance. Little Bao does not take any reservations and any queue will usually take around 30-40 minutes before you are able to even get a seat. And since the cafe is rather small, you might want to eat your food a little faster to make space for others as well!
The cafe is represented by a bird-looking mascot which resembles that of Tweety bird – but with a little more punk and style. The cafe is very much different from the ubiquitous Hong Kong Cha Chan Teng restaurants, but more like a hipster-looking tapas bar which you can chill over some alcohol!
And of course, its menu does not disappoint. The cafe takes the usual Asian Baos and gives it a little contemporary twist. There, you can find local favourites like Pork Belly, Chicken, Fish Tempura and even some vegetarian selections for those who can’t take meat!
The most-popular dish would definitely the pork belly bao which features succulent and tender pork belly meat in sesame dressing flanked between soft fluffy white buns!
While you are there, do not forget to try out the Ice Cream Bao too! Unlike their usual selections, their ice cream bao is made with 2 deep-fried buns, and you get to choose between ice cream flavours like green tea or salted caramel! Trust us, it tastes exactly as good as it looks too!
Don’t forget to make your way there when in Hong Kong! Trust us, the experience will be worth it.
