Lorry Sliding Door Falls off When Driver Mounted Kerb Near Upper Serangoon Rd

If you drive or ride frequently on the road, you’ve probably seen all sorts of strange things.

I once saw, for example, a driver giving way to another driver without a TP officer in sight.

Reader: *gasps*

We’ve also seen a naked man lying flat in the middle of the road, and man ‘skiing’ on a road in the Central Business District (CBD).

But have you ever seen a door of a vehicle suddenly fall off while it’s moving?

Well, that’s what one Grab delivery rider witnessed recently.

Lorry Sliding Door Falls off When Driver Mounted Kerb Near Upper Serangoon Rd

A video of a lorry mounting a kerb causing its door to fall off has been circulating on social media.

The video was shared by YouTube user Sharil B on Thursday (15 Apr).

In the video, a motorcyclist is riding behind a white lorry along Bendemeer road.

Just after the two passed a bus stop, the lorry mounts a kerb while travelling at a high speed.

The impact causes the lorry’s right door to break off and fall violently to the floor, leaving its contents to spill all over the road.

At this point, the rider behind the lorry can be heard saying “Holy sh*t bro, that is so scary” before coming to a stop.

Instead of flinging expletives and showing certain fingers like many drivers here would, the rider then goes up to the lorry to check if the driver is okay.

The driver indicates that he’s fine, but the thoughtful rider stays at the scene, and asks the driver if he needs help.

It’s then that we see that familiar green box that greets our eyes whenever our stomachs need food:

Yes, the man appears to be a GrabFood delivery rider, who took time out of his busy schedule to help this lorry driver out.

When the rider approaches the fallen door, we see broken bottles on the ground and a dark liquid splattered all over the area.

The rider later speculates that it’s perfume because the smell is “very strong”.

The lorry driver reverses to the spot where its door lay, and the two men attempt to carry it and place it inside the lorry’s cargo compartment.

The driver of an SBS bus which was stuck behind the lorry in traffic came out to help the pair as well, and together the three men managed to complete the tough task.

The rider and the lorry driver then kick aside the broken bottles, and the lorry driver thanked the rider for his help before moving off.

Netizens were certainly impressed with the rider’s kind act, with many of them praising him in the comments section of the video.

At a time when we’re severely lacking in the kindness department, this man’s simple good deed should be celebrated.
