Given our current lockdown situation, most of us should be staying at home, unless you’re working in the essential service sectors.

Working from home has its perks: you get to roll out of bed in your pajamas and start work immediately.

However, not everyone can work from home.

Yeah, you get what I mean. Some professions have its limitations.

Especially when you’re a sportsman or an avid fan of certain sports.

Man Caught Skiing on Road in CBD

A 28-year-old man was recently spotted “skiing” on the road in the Central Business District (CBD).

According to a video posted on Facebook on 5 May, the man was skiing in the second lane of the road from the left in Raffles Quay, near Lau Pa Sat Food Court.

This unconventional mode of transport includes using two ski poles to propel forward while on skates.

Such a unique sight has gathered certain questions about his actions online. Netizens were commenting on whether such fashion is allowed on the roads.

Not surprisingly, the police are investigating this matter.

According to the police on Thursday (14 May), the man could have committed a traffic offence. This is because travelling on roller skates, in-line skates or any other devices resembling these on roads, interferes with the lawful movement of traffic. This is against road rules.

Not only is this dangerous, it might also cause unnecessary road accidents. Bicycles are already bad enough, no?

Since it is an unusual sight, some netizens have remarked that the man was simply satisfying his urge for skiing, given how the lockdown has restricted his passion.

Perhaps he was one of the many professions who couldn’t work from home, so he decided to take it out into the roads of Singapore.
