I’m sure by now, most of us would have known that the COVID-19 outbreak has affected many people and businesses, especially since more people are choosing to hide in their own homes to avoid getting infected by the coronavirus.
One such business is a high-end Cantonese restaurant in Hong Kong’s Causeway Bay district called Ming that 49-year-old Hong Kong actor Louis Koo invested in.
Which technically means he’s the boss lah, though he won’t be there to cook your Sweet and Sour Pork.
According to Hong Kong media, that restaurant will be closing temporarily due to COVID-19 for the safety of its staff and customers.
While most businesses would have closed down and sent their staff members home, making them take unpaid leave or even retrenching a large number of them to cut costs, Louis did nothing of that.
In fact, he only had one thing on his mind.
Protecting Their Livelihood
He requested that all 40-plus staff members be given paid leave and that no one is to be fired during this period.
How sweet (and handsome).
When asked to comment about this by Apple Daily Hong Kong, he shared, “The restaurant is actually doing well and business has been stable from Chinese New Year till now. However, as the situation is more intense, the management suggested closing for a while for the safety of the staff and customers. We’re scheduled to reopen at the start of March but we have to see if the situation has stabilised.”
Louis seemed to be very protective of his staff members, and he even said that he will try his best to protect their livelihood.
He further explained, “Our company tries not to retrench staff, and we definitely will not ask anyone to take unpaid leave. The economic situation isn’t the best right now, but we will try to help out as much as possible, and we will certainly protect our employees’ livelihoods.”
How does one find such a caring boss?
This means that the staff can sleep at home while still getting paid.
After working in Goody Feed for a while, it is nice to know that bosses like Louis Koo do exist in this world.
Hopefully we can all win this battle against COVID-19 soon. Stay safe, everyone!
