Remember the scuffle between the now ex-LTA officer and Uber driver that happened last year? Well, just yesterday, there was an incident between another LTA officer and a car driver – but this time, a member of the public stepped in before the two could start a fistfight.
It was not clear what exactly transpired, but the two were conversing in Hokkien, with one of them remarking: “I will beat you up”.
The LTA officer was then seen opening the car door before being stopped by the woman, who put him in his place: “You’re working for the government, you don’t behave this way.”
The LTA officer retorted, “He want to hammer me, ask him come out.”
Netizens were quick to judge, with some saying that LTA should enforce stricter hiring policies because most of the enforcement officers hired are simply “hooligans dressed in LTA vests”.
Now, we’re not going to say who’s wrong and who’s right because nobody knows except for involved personnel, but one thing we do know is this: Singaporeans are not exactly known for being the nicest people to LTA officers.
What we can take away from the previous incident between the ex-LTA officer and Uber driver is that things are not what they seem. People were so quick to jump to the Uber driver’s defense – just because the ex-LTA officer threw the first punch in the minute-long clip.
But here’s what they didn’t know: before the video was shot, the Uber driver was the one who started verbally abusing the other party.
So before we jump into any conclusions (yet again), it might be a good idea for all the facts to be in place to avoid pointing fingers unnecessarily!
