Xiaomi came in like a wrecking ball a few years back and have made many Singaporeans switched side from Samsung or Apple to them. Now, they’re coming in to another market: the laptop industry.

While Xiaomi is widely known in Singapore for their wallet-friendly smartphones, being the third largest smartphone maker in the world, they have various other products as well, from their ever-popular powerbanks to even electric scooters.

But nothing is close to this that is set to rock the industry: Mi Notebook Air.

Announced at a press event in China, the Mi Notebook Air is a 13.3-inch MacBook lookalike. A flagship product for Xiaomi, it is supposedly thinner and lighter than the 13-inch MacBook Air.

In terms of specs, the Mi Notebook Air wins the MacBook Air hands down: in fact, the notebook is designed for gaming, and so even without knowing the specs, you’ll know it’s a beast.

But anyway, here’s the specs: it’s powered by an Intel Core i5-6200U with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD, with full HD resolution of 1,920 X 1,080-pixels.

And now, this’s the most important part: the Mi Notebook Air is sold at 4,999 yuan, which is about SGD$1,013. For a laptop of this specs and design, it’s considered a steal.
