I know what you’re thinking: yet another molester story?
Well, that’s exactly what these female victims are thinking too. If it seems like molesters and rapists have only recently come out of some strange, disgusting cave to abuse the women around them, I can assure that that’s not the case.
They’ve always been around. News outlets are just starting to cover their stories more because their victims and the public have had enough.
Unfortunately, these sick guys seem unfazed.
Even if they’re not from NUS.
Malaysian Women Warns Public After Getting Groped By Molester In JB’s Paradigm Mall
On Sunday (20 Oct), Janice Toh, a woman from Malaysia, shared her experience in a Facebook post of an alleged groping incident she experienced at Johor Bahru’s Paradigm Mall, which is one of Singaporeans’ favourite malls.
Molested at the car park
In her post, Toh says that she parked her car at the upper ground level entrance of Paradigm Mall near Poh Kong, a jewellery store.
After completing her grocery shopping, she returned to the car park to pay her parking fee.
Yeah, unlike Singapore car parks, Malaysia mall car parks usually require you to buy a ticket.
When she was at the auto-pay machine, a man suddenly emerged from the entrance and ran towards her.
Toh screamed and held her bag close to her, but the man allegedly managed to grope her breasts before taking off.
The woman said she was too scared to return to her car after that.
Unhelpful staff
If that incident wasn’t bad enough, the staff certainly made it worse.
Toh complained about how the staff at Paradigm mall allegedly didn’t show enough care and urgency when she reported the incident.
She asked the information counter if she could view the CCTV footage so she could take a photo of the alleged offender and post it on Facebook to warn the public.
But, the staff told her that she could only do so if she first made a police report.
She then asked if someone could send her to the police station to make a report, but the staff said that they had no such service.
They did accompany Toh to her car though and asked her to repeat the incident before she left.
Police investigations
Toh described the man to be around 16 years old, plump, and around 155cm tall.
She later made a police report and asked if she could watch the CCTV footage if they accompanied her.
However, the police told her that she wouldn’t be able to take a photo even if they did. But they assured Toh that they would investigate the case further and get back to her soon.
Cautionary tale
Toh said that in sharing her terrifying experience, she hopes that others will exercise more caution and be more mindful of their surroundings.
The world is filled with these creeps, unfortunately, so it’s wise to bring someone along or go in groups when you go out late at night or visit dark or deserted areas.
