A 44-year-old man is set to face a vandalism charge after allegedly throwing a rock at the glass door of the Police Cantonment Complex’s main entrance twice, causing the glass to shatter.
Police said they were alerted to the incident at about 10.55pm on 15 September 2026.
The man was arrested immediately at the scene.
Man Was Believed to Be Intoxicated
According to preliminary police investigations, the man was believed to be intoxicated at the time.
He allegedly picked up a rock weighing almost half a kilogram and threw it at the glass door of the complex’s main entrance.
Police said he threw the same rock twice, causing the door’s glass to shatter. The rock was subsequently seized as a case exhibit.
A photograph released by the Singapore Police Force showed extensive cracking across the glass door following the incident.
Police did not disclose why the man allegedly threw the rock.
Set to Be Charged With Vandalism
In its statement on 16 September, the police said the man would be charged in court on 17 September with vandalism.
Under Section 3 of the Vandalism Act 1966, a person convicted of vandalism can be fined up to S$2,000 or jailed for up to three years.
The offence can also carry between three and eight strokes of the cane, subject to provisions in the law.
The Vandalism Act defines vandalism to include destroying or damaging public property.
