Man Scolded Daiso Staff for Not Being Able to Speak English; Staff Remained Calm As Cucumber

A while back, I was viewing a random video on the Net when I came across a rather intriguing conversation in the comments section.

“Lol, this guy can’t even speak simple English,” said a certain RiasInnuendo. “What a joke.”

“He might not be able to speak English well, but he knows how to speak Russian and Bulgarian,” countered DynasFan999. “That’s one more than you.”

Suffice it to say; RiasInnuendo never recovered from that.

Probably.

But anyway, here’s the thing:

To many, English represents a common ground. A language of unity, which we can all relate to, in a sense. However, it’s important that we acknowledge English as a language that is more commonly used around the world, and not an empowering entity.

Just because someone does not speak English well, does not mean that they’re inferior to you.

After all, as the aforementioned conversation has shown…

Sometimes, they might actually know more languages than you.

Man Scolded Daiso Staff for Not Being Able to Speak English; Staff Remained Cool As Cucumber

Just yesterday (12 July 2020), Facebook user Lionel Chin posted a video on the social media site, stating that the “dude” in the 1:20 clip had “bullied and belittled the young staff manning the safe entry counter at Daiso city square”…

With the reason being that the staff member had allegedly spoken to him in Chinese.

According to the user, the man was so triggered that he actually asked for the manager, and proceeded to shame the affiliated staff member in a public space.

When he realised that he was being filmed, the man allegedly raised his voice and said:

“Mind your own business, you want to be hero, go and wear a cape..”

Netizens React

Following the upload, Netizens turned up in droves to air their disapproval.

Some have also questioned the man’s own command of English, while others called out his ‘elitist’ attitude.

Though one thing’s for sure;

He’s not gonna have many fans if he ever decides to become a politician.

Update

The Facebook user in question has since provided an update on the situation.

According to him, he will be happy to take down the video, but on one single condition:

That the man apologises to the respective parties for his aggressive behaviour.

“If you are the guy in the video, I will be happy to take down the post on one condition,” Chin wrote.

“Apologise to the safeentry lady and let her know it wasn’t right that you shouted or raise your voice at her. Apologise to the manager for creating an unnecessary fuss and state that you didn’t mean it when you implied that she be fired/shouldn’t be hired.”

Whether a compromise will be reached, however, is a notion that remains to be seen.
