Ong Kah Keong, 54, faces three cheating charges after appearing in court on 9 October 2026 over an alleged investment scheme involving loans to gamblers.
Police believe he is also connected to similar cheating cases in which losses exceeded S$2.2 million.
Charges Cover Three People
According to The Straits Times’ court report, the charges concern three people and amounts ranging from S$30,000 to nearly S$1.8 million.
The alleged offences span December 2024 to October 2025. Ong’s case is scheduled to return to court on 6 November 2026.
Returns Were Allegedly Promised Even If Gamblers Lost
In a statement on 8 October, police described a woman’s report in July 2025 about an investment offer to finance gamblers.
She was allegedly told she would receive returns whether the borrowers won or lost.
The man allegedly prepared an “Investment Loan Agreement” and kept asking her for money. Believing the arrangement was genuine, she paid him.
Police said she later realised she had been deceived after receiving no returns and being unable to contact him.
Investigators from Bedok Police Division subsequently identified the suspect.
Police advised people to check investment opportunities before paying and be cautious about promises of steady returns.
