M’sian Man Listened to His Wife & Won $900K Lottery

Many married men swear by the age-old adage “happy wife, happy life”. They also tend to recommend listening to their wives as a means of reaching that “happy wife” goal.

In Malaysia, a man may have struck gold by following this piece of advice.

Not literally gold, but close enough.

He struck the lottery worth RM3 million (which is approximately S$902,000) by following his wife’s directions.

A man who originates from Klang, Malaysia, referred to as Mr Zhen (name has been changed for privacy reasons) by Sin Chew Daily, won close to S$902,000 after listening to his wife and buying a Big Sweep ticket.

Mr Zhen revealed his story while claiming the prize money at the betting office.

According to the winner himself, he is a habitual punter who regularly buys Toto.

His choice of bet? The usual set of lucky numbers he believes in.

It seems that men tend to buy the same numbers they believe in—such as this man in China who has been buying the same seven numbers for several years.

But in this case, it was not this loyalty which led to Mr Zhen winning some money.

On the faithful day when he purchased the winning Big Sweep ticket, he had intended to purchase some Toto numbers as he usually did. However, the numbers that he wanted to buy were sold out for the day.

As life would have it, his wife, who was with him, saw the Big Sweep tickets sold at the betting outlet and suggested that he buy that instead to try out his luck.

And it turned out that Lady Luck was smiling at the man that day since the ticket he won awarded him a respectable RM3 million (approximately S$902,000). The ticket was the top prize for that round of Big Sweep winnings.

Mr Zhen also quipped that “as it turns out, you can strike it rich by listening to your wife”.

I guess it’s true that behind every successful man is a woman.

Perhaps the trick to winning the lottery is not just listening to your wife but also bringing her along when you buy the lottery.

Man Plans to Divide His Money Between Wife and Children

It can be tricky to come into a large sum of money suddenly. What do you do with it?

This lucky winner already has a plan in place. He indicated that he would leave the full amount of the winnings to his wife to manage and intends to use some of the money for his children’s future.

One thing the man did not reveal is whether he plans to continue working after coming into such a sum of unexpected riches. If he follows the steps of other lottery winners before him, he will likely continue his career. For example, another Malaysian man who won almost RM32 million (which is equivalent to S$9,830,000) indicated that he would continue working in Singapore.

Regardless, these instances won’t stop us from buying lottery tickets while dreaming of quitting our jobs the moment we strike it rich.
