Some criminals deserve our admiration.
These lawbreakers have so much blind faith in their own invincibility that they’ll audaciously break every law possible, thinking they’ll never get caught.
Why use your phone while driving, for instance, when you can also forget about valid insurance and invite a lady friend despite the circuit breaker measures in place?
Well, one man in Singapore did exactly that (Oh, and he had an accident with a lorry as well).
Man Caught Using Phone When Driving; Woman in Car Also Fined As She Doesn’t Stay with Him
Think you’re a lousy driver? Well, you probably couldn’t hold a candle to this 27-year-old van driver.
A traffic police (TP) officer had noticed the man using his handphone while driving along Sims Way towards Mountbatten Road at 4.57pm, according to Stomp.
Offence 1 – Using a phone while driving
So, the TP officer signalled for the driver to stop, but the driver must not have been well-versed in sign language because he sped off into the sunset instead.
Offence 2 – Not complying with a TP officer
The TP officer pursued him and the van driver ended up getting into an accident with a lorry at the junction of Guillemard Road and Lorong 22 Geylang.
Offence 3 – Dangerous driving
Fortunately, no one was injured.

The man was arrested for dangerous driving, but the police later found out that he had been driving without valid insurance as well.
Offence 4 – Driving without valid insurance
That’s all, right? He couldn’t possibly have committed any more offences, right?
Officers also found a 33-year-old female passenger in the man’s van, which was a problem because she doesn’t stay in the same place of residence as him.
So he’s also being investigated for breaching safe distancing measures under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020.
Offence 5 – Being a Covidiot
The woman was also issued with a Notice of Composition for breaching safe distancing measures.
Now, I’ve been in accidents and been fined before, but I have to take my hat off to this guy, who may just be the God of bad drivers everywhere.
And oh, did I mention that he was driving whilst under disqualification, which means he does not have a valid driving license?
Can Only Drive With Those Living in Your House
You’re probably aware that getting into accidents with lorries, using your phone while driving, and disobeying TP officers are against the law.
But carpooling was also made illegal recently, so you can’t drive with anyone who doesn’t live in the same house as you.
This makes sense, considering the whole point of the circuit breaker is for us to practise social distancing, which is pretty difficult when you’re crammed into a car with another person.
And if you think you can do it anyway and get away with it, just look at what happened to the man above.
No one can beat the system.
