Gurl, but what did Bukit Gombak do to you? Wait… Wrong station? Ok.
Earlier this week on 17 March, TikTok user @stopjojo_ posted a now-viral TikTok clip of her on a public bus. In her caption, she was lamenting about how a man named after an MRT station in Singapore made her cry.
Although she did not provide much context about her personal situation, her TikTok video soon blew up, and it’s not hard to see why.
Of course, because Singaporeans are such a creative bunch, the comments regarding what the man’s name was started pouring in in true Singaporean fashion.
Upon staring at the MRT map for 20 minutes, I think it’s actually quite easy to tell which station the man was named after lah.
I mean, I don’t think any parent in Singapore will name their child Tuas or Yishun… Right?
(Then again, you never know.)
However, instead of going with the obvious answer, many netizens started commenting hilarious yet clearly incorrect answers.
As of now, the video has garnered over 6,000 comments and 56,100 likes, and we can only expect that number to increase in the days to come.
Netizens’ Responses
If you think Singaporeans aren’t funny, you clearly haven’t seen the comments section of a viral Singaporean TikTok video.
In the comments section, users peppered their comments with jokes and puns like these below:
Some also jokingly asked if she had missed the red flags in the man by alluding “Simei” to “siam”.
Apart from that, there were also users who highlighted her obvious unhappiness. Because, well, SomerSAD.

Of course, a user also took the opportunity to poke fun at the neverending distance between Yio Chu Kang and Khatib MRT stations that north-siders know all too well.
And while we may not find out the man’s name from the original creator of the TikTok video, we can always continue guessing, right?
So… What did Telok Ayer do to you this time around?
